DIY Scrunchie: A Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your Own Hair Accessory
Your hair accessories can truly define your style, and what better way to do that than with a homemade scrunchie? This DIY Scrunchie guide will provide you with a simple, step-by-step process to create your own unique hair accessory from scratch. Let’s gather our materials and dive in!
## Materials You’ll Need:
- Fabric of any kind (Get creative here! Old clothes, quilts, etc)
- An elastic band
- Sewing needle and thread
- Safety pins
- Scissors
## Step by Step Process:
### Step 1: Cut your fabric
Using your scissors, cut your fabric into a rectangle. This can be any size, but a good starting point could be 22 inches in length and 3.5 inches in width.
### Step 2: Stitch the fabric
Fold the long ways of your rectangle piece with the right side facing inwards. Start stitching along the long edge, ensuring you’re leaving a gap of about 1 inch. This will allow us to later invert the fabric.
### Step 3: Invert the fabric
Now that we have stitched the fabric, we will invert it. To do this, attach a safety pin at one end, and gently push it all the way through to the other end. Once done, the right side of the fabric should be visible.
### Step 4: Insert the elastic
We’re almost there! Now, attach a safety pin to your elastic band, and thread it through the fabric cylinder you’ve created, being careful not to let the other end of the elastic slip in.
### Step 5: Secure the elastic
Once both ends of the elastic are out on either side, securely stitch them together.
### Step 6: Final stitch
Lastly, stitch the gap in the fabric shut. Make sure to neatly fold in the edges to give it a polished look.
## And Voila! Your very own DIY Scrunchie!
